$911,651,812. Thats what Uncle Sam paid for gas last year.
If you think your gas bill is high this year, imaging Uncle Sam’s. With over 600K vehicles racking up over 5 billion miles a year, the federal government is feeling the pressure from the high fuel cost and environmental concerns.

The governments fleet includes, gasoline, E-85, diesel or biodiesel, natural gas, propane and electric vehicles. All except gasoline and diesel are considered alternative fuel. The Energy Policy Act, requires most agency fleets to include a certain number of alternative fuel vehicles, it also promotes the use of alternative fuel or dual-fuel vehicle when ever possible.
One of the major concern the government has with alternative fuel vehicles are the lack of fueling stations, currently in the United States there are roughly 186,000 gas stations, with only 1,500 of them that can provide alternative fuel.
